In the beginning…

Are we alone?

Taken from the perspective of today, we could easily conclude that the early explorers of Earth should have reasoned that they would, eventually, bump into other humans. But all of this is, of course, subject to our current perspective.

Those explorers of old knew as little of the world around them as we do of the vast universe around us. To them, the endless seas were home to more myth than fact. In fact, there was no shortage of those who predicted all manner of doom for those who sailed over the furthest horizons.

In the end, it took far more courage to set off for the unknown than it did to remain on the wharf watching them sail away.
